The lessons from San Roque Dam

Re: Nuclear Power Plant
I do not understand the sudden urge to go nuclear when the Filipino engineers who were operating the San Roque dam were so reckless.
Can we trust our smart engineers to operate such sophisticated and complex system? The various factors like economy, reliability, risks, initial cost, repair and maintenance cost, public input and consultation etc must be evaluated first before these politicians start dreaming of their SOP.
I am surprised that Congressman Coquangco is the proponent when he was the one who intelligently questioned the San Roque operators’ ill-timed decision to release the rampaging amount of water that caused the catastrophe during Pepeng.
Nuclear power is safe “IF” operated and maintained properly. Hindi puede yong mentalidad na katulad ng operator ng San Roque, kung hindi mababawasan ng malaki ang population ng Pangasinan.
I can see that the more problems the Philippines faces, the happier are the corrupt politicians. And they always think of BIG projects instead of the right solutions unlike Governor Spines who did not propose a large regional hospital for Pangasinan, instead he did what is supposed to solve the basic problems of health care.
Think about it, it (nuclear explosion) could be the smart corrupt politicians’ final solution to the problems of the much debated “global warming”, overpopulation, and cleanup of the environment (no more people that will pollute) in this part of the world.
