We have been colonized by Spain for more than 300 years followed by Americans by way of Treaty of Paris. We were governed through by Governor Generals for centuries as a colony.
The Americans exert major influence to mold the Philippines into something similar to its democratic system to showcase itself as a new Superpower. Somehow we have to cut the umbilical cord and chart our destiny as a nation, our present problems and challenges are our baptism of fire, our so called growing pains.
See, you have to purge iron of impurities to create a steel. Would you rather have a government run like heaven by the Americans?
Marami ring corruption dito sa America but the justice system finds ways to convict the rich and the powerful.
Public officials are sensitive to public opinions vs. Filipino officials who are crocodiles with a skin of a pachyderms. They disbar a former president for lying under oath for doing a hanky-panky. It is very convenient to point an accusing finger.
