‘Department of denial’
By Gonzalo Duque
UNLIKE some loyal friends of TV personality Oscar Orbos, I remain critical of him… Why? Because he is a big public figure, and his behavior vis-a-vis politics lately has confused me.
Hep, teka teka (excuse me, Rene de Villa) baka tatawag na naman ang Oca sa langit at patatamaan ako ng kidlat just like when I criticized him for joining the noisy rallyists who were hit by water canon in a rally in Mendiola. Let me assure him and our readers that mine is only to place his recent acts under the public glare.
Oca Orbos was a former congressman of the first district, former governor, former secretary of the DOTC and former executive secretary of former President Cory Aquino. I believe it’s only fair that I comment on his acts – for his own good and the good of the public.
You all heard and saw him in the Manila dailies, TV and radio in the failed coup attempt led by General Danilo Lim. Does Oca have a messianic complex? What makes him and his co-plotters think they could plot against PGMA and get away with it?
Now, Oca Orbos is hysterically denying involvement in the failed coup, just like his partner “Teka teka” de Villa and the others who suddenly became PGMA fans and members of the newly created Department of Denial to the great ire of former Ambassador Roy Seneres, who denounced them as liars, cowards, arm chair leaders, etcetera. Roy scolded them, “magpakalalake kayo, wala ba kayong b . . .ag?”
The failed coup has exposed Oca and Roy. Roy, a fellow Bedan, and I used to work together at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration when I was POEA deputy administrator. Roy was always frank, honest, courageous … but one thing we can’t be together is that he is too pro-Erap.
How about Oca? Well, we too, worked together at the Pangasinan Provincial Board. I was then vice governor, and he a member of the board. Yes, it’s understandable. His anti GMA stance is due to the fact that the little lady defeated him in a vice presidential race by a landscape … err, landslide.
Di matanggap ang kanyang talo ng ganun ka-grabe. Alam nyo, si Oca ay sobrang matampuhin. Onion skinned, ika nga, madaling magalit. Ask those who know him well. He is suffering from “pikonitis” Huag ko na nga ituloy Oca analysis, baka pakidlat ako!,

How is that, pare ko? The influential Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines of which Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz was a former head is against the impeachment of PGMA.
I told you so, this column has consistently stood on the proposition that the President will serve her term until 20l0.
You see, the few who are noisy and style themselves as anti GMA are losing followers everyday. This just goes to show that our people want to go back to normal life. Sa itsura na lang ng laban,, talong talo na ang mga anti Gloria, di ba?

The other day, my dear friend Money, este Manny Roy texted me. He said:
“Please lang, pare, manpapareen ak lad abong kod Dinalaoan, tinapik moac met ed kolum mo. Naandian ak lalaingen na sakey ya anapan, maong kumon no e- pay-roll moac ed Lyceum. Pare, request ko lang Paki korek na I was the source of your column item last week on the councilors. Mawawalan ako, pare.”
Ok, ok, pare Money, err, Manny, I stand “collected” err, corrected, but my insider at the clown-cil told me that all that I wrote about the Sangganuan are true and correct. If you want the details and hard facts, I will give them to you for free next issue. You see, alam na ng publiko ang lahat tungkol sa City Clown-cil or Sanggano-ang Fund-lungsod which is suffering from a disease called kwartikel, and it needs a medicine, cuarta-sicol.
Kolek ko na ha, implement ko na ating “cash-sunduan,” ha, Manny Baby?.

P.S. The opposition loves to talk about the “truth.” Does that make the CBCP a harbinger of “untruth” because it is now distancing itself from the “truthful” group?
I think it is this attitude that’s driving more and more people away from them. Holier than thou is always an obnoxious attitude….
The Rotary Club of Metro Dagupan headed by Carmelo “Joy” Inamac of Manila Bank-Dagupan and the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan headed by Nathaniel Floyd Alipio will hold their joint induction at the Pangasinan Regency on July 27 beginning at 6 p.m. Guest speaker is District Gov. Lorenzo Owens. Mabuhay kayo!
