Re: Unsubstantiated

Mr. Jess Delfin,

Must be a big tsismis on my part because I was watching the NBC national evening news reporting on Toyota’s acceleration problem and then I saw Al Mendoza’s article boasting his credentials thus my SP posting.

My intent is for the awareness of our kabaleyans who had missed the report who feel comfortable like me who had owned my first Toyota ever since 1970 and have a couple in the garage now besides my Ram pickup. Yes, Toyota has that legendary reliability but being a professional mechanic, accidents taped in 911 calls and had been reported that it still continues, as we discuss, is a safety concern for me. I need help wherever I can as owner and driver.

In a similar accident probe, the Federal Aviation Administration who does a very thorough accident investigation got lucky in investigating an aircraft accident. It took them a long time to pinpoint the accidents on the most reliability passenger jet the Boeing 737 until one landed intact and they found the frozen electro mechanical servo that controls the engine blades caused by temperature change and a miss inspection by bad borescope procedure.

For all their denials of no defects and several hands pointing to pilot error, this one is attributed to material failure that was a result of temperature changes. The technician in the lab probing the failures accidentally left the electromechanical servo in cold freezer and got cooled off in water for her borescope and found a crack. During normal temperature everything works great even in the lab.

So I guess for all the tsismis of Toyota’s gas pedal or acceleration, Toyota’s drivers – do not hang your heads on Al Mendoza’s car show in Japan. Heck he might be like me, just there to see the form of the cars and not their defects. Beside saki is a fine comforting drink with sashimi.

Thanks for giving me the confidence to climb on my Toyota this AM to get to work. Hope my family does not write about me, similar posting on Toyota acceleration accident.
