Re: Exit International

A peaceful death is Everybody’s Right . . . so goes the mantra of this easy-does-it organization.

Exit International is the foremost voluntary euthanasia, end-of-life choices, and advocacy group. It was founded by Dr. Philip Nitschke in 1997 in Australia with world wide headquarters in Auckland, NZ, and London, UK.

It was originally known as Voluntary Euthanasia Research Foundation. There are also a couple of assisted-death groups such as Dignitas and Final Exit.

These are non-profit programs, which helps the aged to have a decent death when everything is at an end.

The average age of members is 75 years, healthy and elderly. Which means to say life is not guaranteed for eternity, however, if all is lost at least a dignified way to kingdom come.

It is legal in Australia after its Parliament enacted the first Voluntary Euthanasia Law – the Rights of the Terminally Ill (ROTI Act. Under this act Dr. Nitschke administered the first legal, voluntary lethal injection – in contrast to Dr. Kevorkian of Michigan who was convicted of murder.

Here enters retired man-of-god Oscar Cruz! Who is he to determine Christian religiosity to be followed first from the legality of an act?

It’s not only supercilious, but ignorance on his part – to say – that man cannot have his own choice, his right to do what’s best for him, but have to follow the tenets of the church even how disdainful it might be.

And Oscar Cruz has the nerve to call this organization a business venture. When do you call a non-profit organization business? Is it going too far when something contrary to his religious belief raises its head in the realities of life?

Life is precious I concur to that, but how precious is it when its usefulness is over? Must it be prolonged with pain and suffering in a vegetable state and wait for Oscar Cruz and his God to ascertain the setting when its time to die?

Misguided knowledge is hazardous to your mental health . . . . Oscar Cruz!
