Re: No demand for air travel
I beg to disagree, Mr. Boy.
1) There is a considerable big demand for air travel in that area. Let alone the Tourism Industry that is continuously booming in Bolinao. At present, we cater to an all-weather inflow of tourists, mostly domestic, coming from all parts of the country to Bolinao and Alaminos. A one-stop travel is preferable than a two-stop travel via Ninoy Aquino Airport and another transit stop at Subic or Pampanga. Secondly, the balikbayans and retirees can be expected to fill the seats.
2) The future Tarlac-Pangasinan- La Union will not be the solution to long and weary travels to the northwest as the problem lies in the congested highways from Manila International airport to Balintawak which is 3-4 hours.
3) North Railway, when? Air travel will prove to be an easy access to the northwest in times of calamities and seasonal calamities such as flooding in Tarlac-Lingayen-Domalandan area. The Lahar flow after the Pinatubo catastrophe cut-off of access to our area, either land travel from Pampanga or through Subic Bay.
I need not mention the importance and need for an air rescue and distribution of relief goods via air for Bolinao, Anda, Bani, Agno, Sual, Mabini in cases of emergency, such as Emong Cyclone. The northwest populace of Pangasinan appreciates the idea of having an airport.
