Bogs Esteves, great manager and politician

MILPITAS CITY, California – In case you don’t know yet, the mayor here is our fellow Dagupeno, Jose “Bogs” Esteves, 66.
Last week, we wrote here that unlike most cities, counties and states in the US, Milpitas looks and is robust amidst the economic crisis.

Before we enplaned for the US last week, we did our work as chair of the Annual Search for the Top Pinoy Physicians or Outstanding Filipino Physicians held at the SMC Social Hall.
The Search is meant to give due recognition to the country’s outstanding physicians who serve our countrymen. Focus of this year’s search is the doctors’ contribution to rural uplift. On top of the search this year are SMC’s big boss Ramon Ang and JCI Senate President Tony Ceriles.
SMC donated P1.5 million for the Search this year.
It might interest you to know that JCI Senators Mel Velasco, Emi Bamba and this columnist are the main players in this year’s Search.
Mel and Emi are at the helm of the Executive Committee and Secretariat.
Why is JCI out front in the nation’s health? Well, because rural wellness and healthcare give meaning to the Jaycee Creed “to serve humanity is the best work of life.”
There’s a plan to make the Search more permanent, as suggested by Dr. Robert Kuan of St. Luke’s.
Results of the Search will be out either in November or December.
Let’s thank the following JCI Senators Pres. Kuan, Senators Raul Garingan, Ramon Nanadiego, Ling Ngo, Glenn Santos, Van Torrevillas, and Mel Velasco, last year’s Search chairman and now incoming executive director.
Let’s doff our hats to those great souls who are promoting the humanitarian spirit.
