Pedritos’ Chicken Inasal ‘da best’ in Pangasinan

By Gonzalo Duque

WE hope our publisher, ASNA Awardee in journalism Ermin, won’t frown on this column article.

Kasi, in fairness, dakkel iray restaurant, some carrying prestigious names like Chicken Inasal that don’t give justice to their name.

But this one along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Tapuac – the favorite hangout of former Mayor Al Fernandez and University of Luzon president Dr. Macky Samson – really has something yummy to show for the discriminating palate of gourmets like us.

Let’s greet the ever gracious, always beautiful Ms. Linda Suratos Tordesillas, now in her mid 60’s but still looks 21, proprietress of Pedritos for having concocted a very tasty Chicken Inasal, straight from the legendary Bacolod taste.

We’ve always wanted to invite a good friend, Mr. P… but he’s too busy in some family business he couldn’t even squeeze a few minutes for us. Hmmm… maybe in some other time ha, no agla maoran.

The cooking, the concoction is confidential, kwanen Ms. Linda, singa love-inspired. Masarap mananam ya tudtua. Macky and Al are nodding their heads in approval.

Someone asked us what we consider to be our late Papang, former Gov. and Health Secretary Francisco “Paco” Duque Jr.’s unforgettable achievement?

Ay, dakkel ya amigo, but since it’s rainy season, we’d readily point to the construction of Padilla Bridge in Balococ, Lingayen. Know why?

Because unlike the run-of- the-mill government sponsored bridges, the Padilla Bridge which was constructed in 1962 yet, has stood the test of time. No cracks, still spic n span, strong and well ika nga. Well, of course, under our anti-corrupt President Noynoy, we have now quality roads and bridges. Our erpat personally supervised its construction, that’s why.

What made quality construction then possible was that very minimal goes to the commissions for contractors. This has been existing for a long time, until lately – before Noynoy, – 60% are nakakalkal, so what went to the project was minuscule.

What’s also good about the new policy is government no longer allows the inclusion of the names – and specially pictures – of politicians on DPWH billboards! Just the contract price, duration of work, name of contractor and prescribed period of the project’s lifespan.

In Dagupan? Ay alagar kayo pa. Our politicians have developed a clever way of putting their names and pictures even in tricycle permits, buses, etc… Hoy, akin et lopa yoy wadtan! Agkayo ambaing? Kwartay publiko, aabusoen yo? Dapat sicayo so manmulta! Ay, awey ya! Gabay yo amoy Awai?

Our famous actor comedian Dolphy, 89, is reported to be in critical condition. Ay, masiken met la agagui. But he should be hailed because he did our country well… minus lang yong pag-endorso tod Manny Villar ya president.

Well, he is also a human being. Pero maong ya too. Angapoy pinalikdo to. Inararo na aray movie tan TV fans.

Let’s pray for his extended life.

Mabuhay ka, Dolphy!

Our Manny Pacquiao won in that showdown, according to the World Boxing Organization. So what now? They can’t even remove the championship belt from Bradley. It’s meaningless! What should be done is strip the erring judges of any judging authority and declared incompetent.

But it was Bob Arum who hired them.

Methinks, Arum was behind it all.

Mafia!
