Public cries for justice for Madelaine!

By Gonzalo Duque

WE citizens of Dagupan are of one heart and mind in prayer for the aggrieved soul of the late Madelaine H. Goyena, 13, who was violently killed last week. We condole with her family as we unceasingly pray for the repose of her soul.

Up to now, many could not contain their grief. The pretty girl was an outstanding student, whose only fault was her too trusting nature to friends. Those accounts about her lending her alleged attacker P16, 000 and his alleged refusal to pay boggles the imagination. Grabe naman ang utak ng killer na yan!

The crime brings to the fore the Community Police Precinct Rep. Gina de Venecia had funded from her pork barrel. Bravo, Gina! Mahina pa rin ang mga local authorities. They cannot match Rep. Gina’s Aksyon Agad style of leadership.

By the way, two days after the inauguration of the facility, the crime of the century -Madelaine’s attack- happened! What an irony!

This columnist was shocked by the dastardly killing. The reason is we have been harping on the crime wave in the city. Sorry, DCNHS people, but that school is becoming notorious for violence.

Did you know that two days after the Goyena killing, another violent incident took place at DCNHS? It was a “ramble on the docks.”

We thought that with the holding of the Brigada Eskwela, that police precinct should have already been manned or staffed. Wala pa even up to this writing.

The sages say: for crime or evil to thrive all the good men have to do is do nothing. Sit back, relax even if they have all the opportunity to exercise vigilance.

Yan ang napala natin. Ta anto met ey mangingiras tayo. Masiado tayon mapaolian!

While writing this, our friend Ashok Vasandani told us he was donating a CCTV Camera for DCNHS to catch the wrong doers. It should be placed at the rear part of the school where crime usually takes place.

Karakel na reaksyon na readers ed amay garbage column tayo last week.

Say kwanda, akin ta ah no panpoligaan nen Mayor Benjie Lim ya arapen itay Awai problem ya singa panagasikaso tod Magic Club a negosyo to ah?

Kaskasian met so bahley. Garbage, a most basic problem, has remained unsolved. The danger here is undisposed of garbage will be source of disease!

What’s needed is political will. Not political on personal interest.

If the mayor can dispose of MC Adore that easily, what’s holding him from doing the same to our garbage mess?

At press time, we heard a world-class lounge owned by the mayor is about to open this week.

Tantarran… ditan ira marunong. Private interest lamet amigo. Wala tayo diyan. Dapat onaen ni para totoo.

It’s located atop the Yellow Cab beside the Fortune Restaurant. Ano ba na naman ito?

Pwera biro, we are not envious at all ha. What all this reminds us is the biblical Nero, who when Rome was burning was playing the flute!

When Dagupan is smelling of garbage, corruption, and all this mess, the mayor is singing the blues with his favorite band!

The other day, there was flooding in the city. Again! So you see, in spite of the massive drainage construction by the DPWH and from government funds secured by Rep. Gina de Venecia, the city is still facing flooding problems.

Siopa may angibaga ya “Dagupan is the second most livable City in the World?” He or she should have his/her head examined.
