The Tulfo brothers’ predicament

DAGUPAN’S elective officials, from Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez to the last city councilor, may have suffered a knock down in the hands of Mayor Benjie Lim’s stinging straights and wallops in the unpopular MC Adore sale.
We doubt though if they — the magic five who backed Benjie’s MC Adore sale — knew what hit them for their “political disloyalty.”
Like it or not, Benjie has evolved into a world-class salesman, that not even his confreres could anticipate his marketing acumen.
Have Belen’s councilor allies defected to Benjie as shown in the MC Adore caper?
Was she double-crossed?
Well, in the much maligned corruption game, Belen now would come out a heroine for having babied spoiled brats who won’t hesitate to bite the hand that feeds.
In matters of voting behavior, the city which has gained maturity and sophistication in this day and age and under the aegis of Pnoy’s much praised anti corruption government may be dismayed by Belen’s tormentors up to the next elections.
Unless and until a lot of moolah will be used to buy votes. Ay, that’s the tragedy.

What happened to the Tulfos, our friends since way back particularly Ramon is no different from how press freedom can be convoluted and abused in this country.
The guy (Mon) was merely taking pictures of a misbehaving movie actress — a normal routine for a journalist – but the entire scene was muddled by star-crazy NAIA personnel.
Probers should zero in on the “outsiders” who acted with curious selfish instinct, and, let sobriety and reason reign in fast, and allow Ramon, his brothers included, and the movie couple to face each other in court or arrive at a settlement.
Both the feuding parties will lose if they don’t patch up.
Unfortunate was the spring reaction of his brothers, again a case of blind love for a bruised brother. But can you blame them?

We doff our hat to Lyceum Northwestern’s act of honoring business, civic and humanitarian leader Ashok Vasandani with a doctorate in humanities given the general mindset on Indian nationals in the country.
Not many know of Ashok’s innumerable “good Samaritan” acts which have saved and touched lives, not only from his direct donations in cash and in kind to the sick and the needy, but also in his unceasing civic leadership as a Rotarian and spiritual leader.
We saw this outgoing persona in our two-week visit of India, where brotherhood and man’s peaceful nature are in abundance everywhere.
