Scary retirement proposition

Re: General admission – on retirement
This heart-wrenching experience laid bare the predicament, that retirement in the Philippines for American expatriates, is hazardous to their health.
The lack of medical facilities, and expertise could make you think thrice, if going back to the land you left behind to enjoy the remainder of your life … in comfort … with all the forty fold exchange of your pension, the household help you can hire at a very low rate, is more than enough to justify a move in a do or die proportions.
It is pretty scary, when you’re driving – like what Al did – going the shortcut of the Camiling route to Lingayen, when of a sudden you feel lightheaded, a numbness in your arms, a pain in your chest, and the accessible medical help is nowhere to be found, but a few carabaos and cows grazing in the fields.
Then, you will be cursing Al Mendoza, and most of all Jun Velasco, who boldly encourages every available retiree to come home to roost.
