Bursting one’s bubbles

With due respect to the lady columnist, but this piece makes me cringe.
It is bordering on racism. Pasintabi na la’ng po, Miss Marifi, pero masyado naman yatang chauvinistic ang tono nitong si Mr. A. G. He should keep in mind na hindi lahat ng naga-abroad ay matalino o hardworking. Mas madalas mangyaring sinuwerte lan’g sila.
I can speak with confidence about this thinking dahil nagbalik ako for about two years in the Philippines after working outside the country for ten years. But I don’t blame Mr. A. G. for his sentiments dahil ako rin no’ng una pakiramdam ko ang galing-galing ko kasi nakapag-abroad ako. I was very humbled when I went back for two years in the Philippines. Ang dami pala talagang mahuhusay na Pinoy na hindi la’ng talaga nagkaroon ng magandang suwerte. Andami kong nakitang hardworking. And painful though it was for my ego to accept, ang gagaling nila. Talk about bursting one’s bubbles.
My 10 cent’s worth lang naman po. I don’t mean to shove a bitter pill in anyone’s direction.
And don’t treat the gene pool as something that can be depleted like some static entity. The DNA is an all-powerful leveling force. It can be likened to a blind watchmaker. Walang sinasanto.
I mean, I am sure nakakita na kayo ng parehong pangit pero ang gaganda ng anak. Or parehong artistahin pero mukhang ewan ang mga supling. Or parehong simpleng mga tao pero nagkaanak ng henyo.
You get the idea.
Peace.
