Hi friend,
The final arbiter on whether Grace Poe should be disqualified from running for president is the Supreme Court. What is amusing to me is the contention of the more vocal of Grace Poe haters that Poe’s renouncing of her Filipino citizenship to become an American is short of treason, or at the very least, disloyalty. I find this extremely insulting to the millions of Filipinos who have renounced their Filipino citizenship to become citizens of other countries yet continue to remit billions of pesos to the Philippines to prop up a fragile economy, who visit the land of their birth once or twice every year and spend some more, who still practice their native culture in their adopted countries, whose hearts swell with pride over the victories of Manny Pacqiuao, and recently, over Pia Wurtzbach being judged the most beautiful woman in the universe. These kababayans will always be Filipinos and no naturalization document from another country can change that.
