Two highly esteemed ladies die

THE NATION is in state of mourning due to the passing away of a highly revered former government official– former Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago. She was 71.

Some people refer to her as the best president the country never had.

Maybe true.

But we are content with the fact that Miriam always stood for what is legal and right.

Saludo tayo dyan. May she rest in peace.

In Dagupan, a friend, a former chair of the Dagupan City Water District Claudette De Venecia-Dalusong passed away last Sunday. O, yes, she was our predecessor.

Claudette was well known in Dagupan City’s civic and elite circles, being a de Venecia and being a woman of substance and style.

She was buried yesterday at the Eternal Gardens. She will be missed by friends and legions of admirers.

            Rest in peace, friend.

Well, your country and mine is going thru its toughest challenge and trial these days.

President Digong is about to mark his 100th day as president Congrats, Sir!

Very fruitful in more ways than one, especially in crushing criminality’s No. 1 root-cause — illegal drugs. Everybody is in full agreement that if not for Digong, this country would have become another Columbia, a drug haven.

Thank you, President Digong.

Oh, yes, tunay na matapang siya. But he could be meek and humble as a cat.

Look at what he did when he discovered that his boys erred in the Drug Matrix that named Rep. Spines, former Administrator Raffy Baraan and Board Member Raul Sison as involved in the illegal drug trade.

Nag-sorry from the bottom of his heart.

Yan ang tunay na lider.

But, well, some people say unpardonable yong pagkakamali.

It exposed the three innocents to grave danger, they say.

Papaano kung nagkaroon ng extreme danger to their lives, and their families?

There are two views here.

But on balance mas nangingibabaw ang humility.

Nobody is perfect, this much is true.

No less than God commits mistakes, too, di ba?

Look at His creatures!

Ang dami nang mga magugulo, korap at mamamatay tao.

Brother against brother, son against father, etc.

In its impact to Pangasinan, masaya ang karaklan. And, as no less than Rep. Spines would put it, he still praises President Digong for what he did.

The former governor maybe knows the limitations of man, that’s why he still was able to salute Digong in all sincerity.

Mabuhay ka, President!

            Mabuhay ka Congressman Spines!

Our friend, fishing magnate Alfredo Dawana reports that a lot of people are saddened by flooding in Dagupan, including that back side of Pedritos; they say, it gets submerged even with a little drop of rain.

They say the entire stretch of what used to be a creek or canal at the back of Pedritos going to CSI-Lucao is already covered with silt and whatchamacallit filth, dirt, and everything unimaginable!

It’s urgent that the whole covered infra be dredged fully to stop flooding in that area once and for all.
