Of Duterte, cops and drugs

More minors nabbed as pushers, couriers in Dagupan. 23 drug pushers arrested in Urdaneta. Still no drug lords found! Why, aren’t the police interested to identify and jail them?

14-year-old boy nabbed in drug buy-bust. In many if not all the so-called “buy-bust” operations, part of the evidence presented by the police operatives to the prosecutors and judges are photographs taken at the police station. No pictures capturing tender of money and delivery of drugs are presented to prove the alleged transaction. And the say-so of the police seems to suffice because of the legal presumption of regularity in the performance of official functions. Is that presumption superior to the presumption of innocence of the accused that the Constitution guarantees? Have all scoundrels and scalawags in uniform gone extinct?

Drug-free Dagupan still possible, says PNP. Maybe so, only if and when all the drugstores in the city, such as Mercury, St. Joseph etc, close down.

‘THOU SHALL NOT KILL’ is absolute- Pope. Not when His Holiness is justified in defending his own life or that of another against a homicidal aggressor.

Duterte: Some cops may be silencing their own criminal accomplices. Great thinking, Mr. President.

Cops sacked for drugs. Probably recycled from their own suspects. By the way, has anything been done by government to investigate cops who stage sham drug buy-bust operations? Has anyone bothered to interview their victims who are now unjustly languishing in jail? Ask the detainees and convicts and prepare to be horrified to hear the heart-rending accounts of many of them. Bring your own lie detector if you must.
