Digong wows fellow Bedans!

OPINIONS vary on the 3-6 month Oplan vs  criminality and corruption in our country.

That, everybody knows.

It’s funny though how some people – like  some  PR people ng isang mayor who  are trying to belittle President Duterte’s campaign to promote their boss’  local version.

Please don’t forget that this columnist wrote here about  his misgivings about the cavalier attitude given to our age-old proposal for a peace and order summit even long before Digong launched his presidential plans? We were then  designated as chair of the city peace and order council, and when we made a suggestion for an honest-to-goodness blueprint to contain the rise of criminality here, we were  ignored, in favor of nonsensical priorities.

Kaya nawalan tayo ng interest sa concern na yan.

Btw, Police Chief Chris Abrahano of Dagupan City should now take the ethical option by asking the higher-ups to promote or re-assign  him somewhere.

No, not for any reason, but he has been overstaying in Dagupan City.

Thursday night, some 600 San Beda alumni honored President Digong at Club Filipino.

FVR was a stellar guest  there.

We saw some Pangasinense San Beda alumni the likes of  Pagcor Chief of Staff  Arthel Carunongan,  LTO Regio-nal  Director Jojo Guadiz, and others.

We received the biggest surprise of our life when the President called us, even advertising us as one of his nominees for  a cabinet position,  and even added that  we declined his offer.

Agay met la? Thanks lavishly, Mr. President.  But, for the record,  we did not decline, how could we? But as many of those who are close to us know, we’ve been  flung into a swirl  of confusion because so many positions were  being  offered… ahem… ahem…..

That’s why you can’t blame Manny Roy for joking that we’d prefer a “standing position.”

We’d like to tell the President again that we’re  profoundly grateful.  But, anyway,  time is still  on our side, and what we only  want to do is to ensure that his presidency would be a success, a great success.

While his anti-drugs drive is succeeding, we can’t relax our guard.

Lately, our country has been thrust into the vortex of  a  pyrrhic victory on  an international court’s ruling that denied China’s claims to the South China Sea.  Tayo ang nanalo! But hep, wala munang festive celebration!

It was a perfect decision  by the President to request former President Ramos  to do the diplomatic coup.

Ang galing ng desisyon, ano?

Collegial to this, we wish to ask our media colleagues to exercise utmost restraint in discussing the subject in light of its security  implications.

A lot of people must have heard President Duterte on  his reference to us in the Bedan affair at Club Filipino.

Molly Reyes and our law classmate Boying Estavillo have called up several people about it, surprising us about how they learned about it, even earlier.

We can only thank our friends led by the President for  it.

But like we said  two columns ago, we are most circumspect  in making  our options in light of our 64 years of age.

We are not getting any younger, you know.

NOTES:  Heartfelt condolence to the family of Carlos Arcinue , husband of Cynthia, and father of five, and younger brod of Dr. Edgardo, Sual Mayor Bing and older brother of Oca, Araceli Matias, the late Vice Mayor Ramon, and Dr. Alberto.

Such is the reason we’re saying for a relax lang  lifestyle.
