Duterte to fill Grace Poe’s slot if disqualified

OUR province and city of Dagupan are fast becoming the favorite destination of national candidates.

A few days ago, popular Sen. Grace Poe, the adoptive daughter of the late movie action king FPJ was in several parts, principally in Dagupan as guest of honor & speaker of the University of Luzon (UL), where she was a recipient of an honorary degree.

As expected, she was mobbed by her legions of fans, admiring students, college professors and the general public as well.

“Eto ba yong anak ni FPJ? Ang ganda at ang galing,” one parent was overheard saying, adding, “di taga San Carlos, tulad ni FPJ? Iboboto ko sampo ng aking mga kapamilya at kababayan at ang galing niya.”

Over in Lingayen, the pretty widow, congresswoman Leni Robredo, of former DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo was also received warmly by close to five thousand Pangasinenses led by Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr., his son Liga ng mga Barangay and Board Member Pogi Espino and unopposed Congressman Pol N. Bataoil at the Narciso Ramos Civic and Sports Center.

Sweet na sweet sila ni Gov. Spine. Inggit ako. Whoever said Spines is outside the kulambo of the LP hierarchy turned out to be a nasty joker.

Sa dami ng mga sumalubong at nag welcome sa kanya ang usap-uapan ay mananalo si Leni sa provincia, if she would be able to overtake the commanding lead of Bongbong Marcos.

Senatorial candidate Riza Honteveros was also reportedly in town.

Back to Grace Poe, who is facing the toughest challenge of her life because of the many issues and controversies surrounding her citizenship and residency problems.

We are an admirer of Grace Poe, but in our view as a lawyer ourself, we believe she would be disqualified eventually. This expected vacuum she will leave behind will be filled by our man for Malacanang, the seemingly elusive Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

We are, at this juncture, taking you to a new fantastic political group dubbed FORD, “Friends of Rodrigo Duterte.” It’s easy to remember because many of you are driving a Ford Expedition or Ford Explorer.

We will dwell on this in greater detail next week.

Suffice it to say that the political scenario unfolding before our very eyes is gravitating to our friend Rody Duterte. As this column has always emphasized he is not out of contention. He is out front and he’s going to overtake every presidential aspirant in due time –  watch for it.

We wish to say something about our fellow ASNA Awardee, outstanding entrepreneur Cesar T. Quiambao, a candidate for mayor of his hometown of Bayambang.

A self-made business leader, we understand his entry in local politics is motivated by his desire to elevate public service in local governance.

Everybody knows that he was the unseen hand in the election of at least two mayors of Bayambang. He was not very pleased with their performance, and so he is taking the driver’s seat to chart the fast and corruption-free march to progress of his beloved town.
