Black propaganda at its worst

BEBOT-VILLAR

By Bebot Villar

ELECTION time is fast approaching! In every corner we see various eye-catching propaganda materials of politicians trying to impress voters. Kanya-kanyang pa-pogi ang “peg,” ika nga. There’s nothing illegal about these at karapatan talaga ng ating mga kandidato ang magpasikat habang may panahon pa.

On the other hand, I am concerned about the use of black propaganda. Note na ang mag-kapatid, mag-lolo, mag-ina, magkumpareng-buo, mag-ninong, mag-bestfriend, mag-pinsan-buo, mag-in-laws ay nagkaka-sira-sira at nagiging mag-kaka-away because of elections. That’s why I already refuse to run for an office dahil ayoko nang masira ang mga relasyon na matagal din binuo, iningatan at pinag-samahan.

This is the sad reality that we cannot seem to avoid. Just for the sake of winning elections, people become demons over a short period of time. Why demons? Kasi po kasamaan ang kanilang ginagawa against their opponents!

Naging normal po ang siraan ng pagkatao, paninirang-puri at saksakan nang talikuran and yet before the elections, one can see that these politicos were all good friends and relatives!

Candidates can win voters’ confidence and sympathy without resorting to black propaganda. They can even be best remembered for their ethical behavior during the campaign period.

Candidates must keep in mind that the elections are just for a short period compared to the long periods in the past to build on good relationships. After elections, they get to see each other again and again!

That’s why it’s best for everyone if our candidates avoid launching dirty tricks against each other. After all, our candidates are deemed professionals and respected individuals kaya dapat lagi itong nasasalamin sa kanilang pagkatao lalo na sa panahon ng pangangampanya.

According to reports, some drug couriers come from the provinces because they are easily persuaded by the promise of “fortune.” Sadly, some of them meet “misfortune” instead, because the dream job they are supposed to have in the big city or abroad turns into nightmare soon as they become drug couriers!

Last April, an 11-year old boy from Mangaldan was arrested for being a “drug courier!” Can you imagine how young the syndicate recruits and trains its couriers? Pro-active po sila! At an early age, the boys and girls are lured and trained as drug couriers with cash.

Based on reports, the African Drug Syndicate (ADS) started its illegal drug trade in the Philippines in 2009. In five years’ time, eighty-two (82) ADS members were arrested. Lately, we note a drop in ADS’ involvement in illegal drug trafficking and we can attribute this to the efforts of our gallant law enforcers.

The ADS members distribute heroin, cocaine at shabu to other countries through multi-national couriers tulad ng mga Pinoy, Thai, Pakistanis, Vietnamese, Chinese and Indonesians in Southeast Asia. Presently, Dubai ang pinaka-popular at paborito na “transit point” for drug couriers perhaps because it’s easy to get a tourist visa.

Its most notorious modus operandi for attracting couriers worldwide is to offer free travel with allowance to women using social media like Facebook. Others are wooed or engaged in a relationship, making it easier for the ADS members to pursue to their “main agenda”!

Those from the provinces were offered work with high pay kasi alam ng ADS na marami ang naghihirap sa ating bansa.

A good life requires patience and persistence so we can attain our ambitions. There are lots of ways how to earn honest pay for a living. As long as your work is legal, ‘wag ninyong ika-hiya kahit pa kakarampot ang sweldo! What’s important is we don’t violate any law at wala tayong nape-perhuwisyong tao.
