A matter of personal commitment
BEBOT-VILLAR

By Bebot Villar

ANOTHER priority project of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) under the Youth Development Programs was held at the CSI Stadia, Dagupan City last September 9, 2015.

The one-day event, the provincial Inter-School Stage Play Competition (ISPLACOM), was aimed at highlighting the theatrical skills of high school students while promoting the DDB’s campaign message for the year, “Kaya ko ‘to ng walang droga.”

Ang ISPLACOM ay nilahukan ng pitong (7) public schools sa Pangasinan: Alaminos City National High School (1st place);  Mangaldan National High School (2nd place); Sual National High School (3rd place); Mangatarem National High School; Dagupan City National High School; Lananpin National High School at Urdaneta City National High School.

The Mangatarem National High School and Dagupan City National High School won consolation prizes.

We are happy with the schools and students’ positive response to our program knowing it encouraged the youth diverted their interests to a more meaningful and rewarding activity.

As usual, dumating ang ina ng Dagupan City to lend her support to our program and gave the Welcome Remarks during the Opening Program. Once again, thank you very much Mayor Belen Fernandez for accommodating our event at the CSI stadia for free.

Mayor Belen Fernandez has always been supporting our nationwide drive against illegal drugs, and full commitment to save the youth of Dagupan City from illegal drugs is inspiring.  Her commitment is beyond her position as mayor. It has taken a personal level, even using her personal resources! Hindi kaya ng iba ‘yan. For the DDB, she is one of the best, if not the best advocate in the campaign against illegal drugs and trafficking.

Looking at her accomplishments, mayroon pa ba kayang maglalakas-loob lumaban sa kanya?  I think she deserves to be unopposed this coming elections!

All-set na rin po ang “Trainor’s Training on Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE)” for fifty (50) police officers from different cities and municipalities of Pangasinan on October 19-30, 2015 to be held at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center, and participants will be accommodated at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.  Both the venue and accommodation are provided by the provincial government of Pangasinan.

It is a 2-week training that includes police officer-led series of classroom lessons that will teach the children how to resist pressures from using drugs and other harmful substances.

Mga Grade IV pupils will be taught by the police officers in the series of classroom lessons.  Ang project na ito ay ka-bahagi ng programangPulis Ko, Titser Kong Philippine National Police.

Since 2010, the DDB has conducted six DARE Trainor’s Training in the provinces of CALABARZON, Bohol, Batangas City, General Santos City and Butuan City.

The police officers-participants who will finish the training will be part of the pool of DARE teachers who in turn will be the resource persons for the re-echoing of DARE program in public schools.

Nagpapasalamat tayo sa Governor’s Office ng Pangasinan through Vice-Gov. Ferdi Calimlim as chairman of the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council for accommodating our request to host the venue for our training in Lingayen.

Again, thank you very much to the provincial government of Pangasinan for the cooperation extended for this worthy activity next month.

Next month ay October na at filing of candidacy na ng mga politiko na gustong maglingkod-bayan! Kaya, expect the happy game will start again very soon!  And I am sure lots of fun and entertainment in the political arena will also be coming out.
