MBTF was seen crying… with joy

MANY of you must have seen and heard Mayor Belen Fernandez when she delivered her State of the City Address – if not at the Stadia – in front of your TV sets.

Super detalyado ang speech niya, ano? Maganda, kaya lang mas mahaba sa 2-hour speech ni P-noy nung nag-SONA.

Nung una, medjo galit tayo. Agay met layan pang pairap yod dumerengel, ha Nick? But on second, third, and fourth thought, ok lang pala. Madami kasi ang dapat mabanggit. Marami ang tumulong na dapat e-acknowledge e.

It was also her opportunity to tell everyone what the workaholic mayor has done… yes, after more than two years in office.

Ha?? Para walang sinabi ang kanyang predecessor? Sorry, mga igan, arawi ray predecessor to, agagui!

No, this column won’t put in detail the contents of her SOCA. Baka kulang ang espasyo na rito sa Punch!

Narinig nyo, intra projects, school, gyms, sports facilities, new buildings, agaylay.

There was a point in her SOCA when she became emotional… naiyak… when she touched on her scholarship program; yung may nag-salita na recipient of her grant on the screen’s film clip who was praising her.

Na-touched, she was moved to tears.

From 500 schools, it would increase to 1000 in the next budget.

At this point, we remember the Confucian axiom, “Give man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.”

Such is the argument for education.

See? That’s why our mantra is education. Teach man how to fish…

On the Dagupan political front, is it true that Manay Gina de Venecia, the congresslady, is eyeing the mayorship?

Marami tayong naririnig na espekulasyon e. Or is it Al Fernandez? Dinig din natin yan.

Or are the mother-and-son Celia and Brian Lim entertaining plans to fight Belen?

Sikayo ran maintriga, tondaan yo pala tan! Mandeen ki pala.

            Listen to the sage’s advice.

By the way, Gina told us she won’t run for mayor.

Our take on the matter is — pantoopen tilay Belen tan si Vice Mayor Brian Lim ompiano derecho so progreso, aga ontan?

            Politics is divisive!

Ni, nakita natin ang blueprint for a new city hall! Very beautiful. Soon, it will signal the end of the complaint that Dagupan has a lousy city hall.

That new city hall plan, et al will be realized under a united Belen-Brian ticket. What do you think?

As for cumadre Celia, we sincerely propose that she just concentrate on the family business and the care of her husband, former Mayor Benjie, who had suffered a stroke two years ago.

You see, a Belen-Brian team will ensure Brian’s ascent to the mayorship in the near future, undisturbed.

In the national scene, reports say Mar Roxas is improving in his ratings after the anointment by P-noy.

But our grapevine says it’s Rody Duterte who is magically increasing his lead.

Listen to our Deretsahan partner Sec. Bebot Villar. He says it’s only Duterte who is lambasting the drug menace problem.

It’s pointed out, that there are 3 million drug users! Grabe! Which means there are 30,000 pushers? This is serious … a security issue. This requires a massive mobilization of the military – never mind the corrupt police establishment. We should curb the menace.

In Dagupan, the drug lairs in Bonuan Binloc and Gueset are well known to everyone. Shabu selling is being done in the open, with kids as couriers.

May isang Muslim duon sa Binloc na narining ng marami na sumigaw “dalhin nyo sa harap ko ang name of police official nay at, tignan nyo kung paano ko ipapamukha kung sino siya!”

We are investigating this…how deep and far this problem in Dagupan has reached.

We are happy that Manay Gina assured us that she and hubby former Speaker JDV, will do something about the notorious drug problem in their barangay.

Tignan nyo mga abay! We really need a Duterte to put all these problems to halt.
