CONGRATULATIONS to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-1 Regional Director, Adrian Alvarino, Pangasinan PPO OIC Provincial Director PS/SUPT Rollie M. Saltat and P/Chief Inspector, Abraham B. Hambon, OIC, Rosales Police Station, Rosales, Pangasinan for their successful operation last July 8, 2015.

They personally supervised the enforcement of the search warrant issued by Hon. Judge Renato D. Pinlac, Branch 37 ng Regional Trial Court ng San Carlos City against Roland Cabudoy of Barangay Zone 5, Poblacion, Rosales a suspected operator of a drug den, last July 8, 2015,

Several sachets of suspected shabu and shabu paraphernalia including instruments for shabu repacking were seized. While the Cabudoy managed to escape, nakatalon mula sa bahay papuntang ilog, five were still arrested during the operation.

Matagal nang inire-reklamo ang bahay na ‘yun na ginawa na ngang drug den. Thanks to the concerned citizens na hindi napagod magsumbong at magreklamo tungkol dito. This is proof that, basta’t may cooperation ang mga mamamayan hindi mahirap gawin ang mga bagay-bagay.

We should not forget that drug problem is not only a simple problem of an individual but is now considered number 1 global problem! Buong mundo na po ang namomroblema sa droga at alam nating lahat ito.

It’s really high time that our people get involved and participate in the anti-drug campaign.

I received info that the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) called for a meeting with line agencies and stakeholders last July 2, 2015. This is good news because I have been monitoring the issue since its reorganizational meeting last year!

We need the sincerity and utmost cooperation of everyone para mapa-lakas ang ating campaign against illegal drugs. We should always encourage the stakeholders and the community to participate and be involved because this is not only the job of the police and PDEA kung di trabaho natin lahat since walang exempted sa problemang ito.

On the issue of Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (ADACs), the vice governor reported that all 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan had already organized and re-activated its ADACs. They likewise have their anti-illegal drug campaign plan and have executive orders for the purpose. Sounds good!

Ayon kay Vice-Gov, out of 1,364 barangays sa buong probinsiya kasama na ang Dagupan City, 1,322 nang mga barangay ang may 97% compliance at may natitira pang 42 barangays o 3% na nasa development stage pa.

If the cited figures are correct, this is a good development! What is needed now is to see the ADACs function nang sa ganun ay maging kapaki-pakinabang ang re-activation ng mga ito.

We all know na sa barangay nag-uumpisa ang transactions ng illegal drugs before these are distributed. Bago pa man ito makarating kung saan. So it’s the ADACs that will be instrumental for a successful operation like what happened in Rosales. Because of the concerned citizens’ initiative, napadali ang pag-discover ng kapulisan sa drug den!

Although we are officially furnished this ADACs update, I am happy to know that there is already progress. Next na aabangan natin will be their output that led to the success of the anti-drug campaign in their communities.

Vice-Gov. Calimlim as PADAC chair, should re-double his efforts to make these re-activated ADACs function as they should!

If I were holding a crystal ball right now, I can predict that the good vibes I initially felt for OIC Provincial Director, Col. Saltat, will continue. With his quick action and full cooperation during the raid conducted with PDEA in Rosales, I think he deserves to be appointed as the new provincial director of Pangasinan.

Aside from his priorities, I would like to emphasize the need to act on the unsolved cases of riding-in-tandem of which some cases are long overdue already. Because if we put ourselves in the family of victims, we should know how painful it is.

I am also looking forward to more cooperation in the operation against illegal drugs between the PNP Pangasinan and PDEA-1 dahil tayo-tayo rin naman ang magtutulungan. Hindi natin ginagawa ang pagtulong dahil lamang sa ating trabaho kung di para na rin sa ating mga pamilya. No one is exempted, tiempo lang ang hinihintay ng mga demonyo at wala silang sini-sino.

The illegal drug problem is worsening and we have to continue to work hard to fight the menace. We should unite and cooperate with each other to help our authorities in this campaign. And if we have P/Sr. Supt. Saltat and Director Alvarino, who are aggressive in the performance of their duties to help the communities, I am certain that we can eliminate the drug problem in the province.
