Abusive DepEd official

BEBOT VILLAR

By Bebot Villar

THE Department of Education’s Secretary, Bro. Armin Luistro is known to be amiable and very approachable. Wherever he goes, people can see the ready smile on his face. I just wonder why one of his officers in the province, in contrast, appears to be a power-tripper.

Here’s what happened sa isang guro na nagnanais magturo sa aming bayan ng Sto. Tomas.

But in this case, while Sec. Luistro is very approachable, who would have expected na may opisyal pala si Sec. Luistro na marunong mang-bully!

The soft-spoken teacher was applying for a teaching position and she wanted to appeal her case, na kung pwede siyang i-consider sa position kahit may bahagyang kakulangan sa required passing average upang makapagturo. Unfortunately, the Division Superintendent was out-of-town at the time kaya ang nakausap ni teacher-applicant ay si Dr. Corpuz.

Instead of taking pity on the plight of the desperate teacher, Dr. Corpuz berated her in a loud voice for everyone to hear, to the humiliation of the teacher-applicant, who buried her head in shame, crying uncontrollably.

She is not a good example to her subordinates, at lalong hindi rin siya deserving sa kanyang puwesto sa kasalukuyan. She should be sent to the freezer and not be permitted to deal with the public.

As a public servant for many long years, I am upset whenever I hear this kind of story. Such an ugly situation should not be allowed to happen at anytime. That official should learn her lesson! Looks like hindi siya naturuan ng GMRC (good manners and right conduct) during her time.

I certainly hope this issue will reach Sec. Luistro.

Today, we are seeing many possible presidentiables but still too early to know kung sino lang talaga ang tatakbo sa 2016 National Elections.

Nariyan ang tumataas na rating ng pangalan ni Senator Grace Poe, si VP Jejomar Binay, DILG Sec. Mar Roxas, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and recently, although still unconfirmed, Sen. Bong-Bong Marcos.

Traditionally, there will be a lot of noise from the time of campaign until election day, but what is important here is how the people will eventually decide.

While inaasahan din natin na hindi maiiwasan ang mga ”buwis-buhay” lalo na sa local elections, because we all know that mudslinging will be inevitable.

Sana lang, the candidates will consciously instruct their supporters to avoid violence and bloodshed.

I have but one unsolicited advice to our kabaleyans. Make sure that you know enough about the candidates to make the right decision, and share these to those who don’t know any better, particularly about candidates for President and Vice president.

Saltat as OIC ng Pangasinan Police. This early, he already formed a task force that will focus on stopping and solving the increasing incidents of shooting in the province, kasama dito ang “riding-in-tandem” victims na hindi pa nabibigyan ng hustisya hanggang sa ngayon.

We’re just into our 7th month this year, 2015 and 116 shooting incidents in the province have already been recorded! Unless the police do anything to neutralize the hired guns, we can expect na dadami pa ang mga biktima.

I heard Col. Saltat reminded the police town and city police chiefs about the “two-strike policy” – a chief of police will be removed from his post if two high-profile shooting incidents occur in one month remain unsolved. Malaking challenge ito! He also swears that he will recommend the immediate relief of a chief of police kung walang ginangawa to solve the cases.

This is a good policy so that people are assured that our police are seriously working to help the community.

As far as I know, ready naman ang ating mga chiefs of police sa buong Pangasinan.
