Pangasinenses visit Rody Duterte

DAVAO CITY — We wrote this column in Durian City.

Do not be amazed if we are a frequent visitor of the next president of the Philippines.

How can we help it? No less than our super friend Mayor Rody Duterte does not tire of inviting us.  It could be an off shoot of our recent meeting in Urdaneta City where an inter city pact was forged between the two cities.

This Davao meeting was interesting. Our fellow Pangasinenses the top brass of the Philippine Councilors League led by Maybelyn Fernandez were also here holding their seminar workshop.  We saw Alvin Coquia of Dagupan, Juday Vargas, Ms Meneses Versoza and others.

We had a special mission which councilor Jess Canto is not authorized to divulge.  In case you are interested, we must warn you of its super sensitive implications.

Back to Rody Duterte, from where we sit we could probably say that when destiny knocks such as in the case of Duterte, we can only thank God and our lucky stars.

People say that he is plain “masuwerte”.  As it sounds like Duterte or “Duquerte”.

Last night he took us to a public safety building which has very modern facilities so much so that whatever you do is perfectly monitored.  But you always get a feeling that you are safe with Rody Duterte.

We felt very low as our thoughts went back to our beloved Dagupan City.  How we wished Mayor Belen Fernandez would find time to visit Davao City.

Really, Mayor Belen should come to this city to study their best practices.

Sorry, our beloved mayor, it is because we care for you and our citymates that we put supreme priority to peace and order.

We are praying that our beloved mayor would see the wisdom of this concern.

Naalala tuloy natin ang immortal words ni President Quezon, “My loyalty to my party ends where my loyalty to my country begins.”

We have our own version, if you may, which goes like this. “My loyalty to my party ends where my loyalty to my conscience begins.”

Sorry, although love is never having to say you are sorry if our column today is punong-puno ng damdamin.  Well, that’s what we are and we intend to stay this way now and probably forever.

Our best wishes and more power to the best mayor Dagupan City had, so far.
