Drugs and heinous crimes

WHO would have thought that a 46-year-old man would rather have sex with a cow, and in public? That’s what happened in Silang, Cavite as reported in media last Tuesday

And during the investigation of the pervert na lalaki, he confessed na it was not the first time pa pala na nagparaos siya sa isang baka. He had done this to another cow in nearby Alfonso town. Susmaryosep! Kung bakit niya nasikmurang to have sex sa baka ay dahil – you guessed it right – naka-droga ang lalaki.

The other week naman, a 25-year old son sa Malasiqui shot his own father. Why? Nagalit ang ama sa anak because he doesn’t flush the toilet after using it. Fortunately, hindi napuruhan ang kanyang ama and he survived. Again, you guessed it right: naka-droga ang binatang namaril.

Two separate incidents but merong common denominator: illegal drugs.

Marami na actually na similar incidents were reported last year, all caused by use of illegal drugs. Many of the heinous crimes committed, katulad ng rape at robbery na walang pawang pinapataty ng mga drug-crazed users ang mga victims pa.

Until hindi nawawala ang illegal na droga sa ating lipunan, many more unimaginable heinous crimes will be committed.

This is why we have been waging a war against illegal drugs because illegal drugs turn normal persons into monsters; illegal drugs turn the bright future of young people into nightmares, making our communities unsafe.

This is also the reason why we are batting for the restoration of the death penalty for convicted drug traffickers. Naniniwala pa rin tayong hangga’t walang nakaambang death penalty laban sa mga ito, lalo na sa mga foreigners, they will always continue to operate their illegal operations.

Ang sabi ng Social Weather Station (SWS), may mga four million Filipino families who were victims of common crimes in the country last year.

Sa unang tingin, that number looks big. Pero, kung susuriing mabuti ang isinagawang survey, not all the members of the families interviewed ay naging victims.

Sabi kasi ng survey, 6.7 percent of respondents (about four million families) ang nagsabi na they or their relatives were victims of common crimes, involving either property or physical violence.

Lumabas din sa survey na sa bawat sampung pamilyang biktima, there was an average of 12 crimes committed against them.

However, if you compare the results of the survey sa 2014, bumaba ito mula 7.9 percent.

In short, what the survey was trying to tell us is that our country is still generally a safe place to live in.

But these data should not make us, especially our law enforcers, complacent dahil marami pa rin ang naging victims. The challenge for all of us is to lower the figures pa.

Basta may pagtutulungan and everybody does his or her part, walang mahirap gawin.

Ngayon pa lang, there are already signs kung ano ang mangyayari sa supply ng ating kuryente during summer simula ngayong buwan.

In fact, in many parts of Luzon, including Pangasinan, are already experiencing short and long scheduled hours of brownouts na.

Our problem, really, is that every summer, there is a higher demand for electricity.

Since no power plants were constructed in the past years, kailangang gumawa ng iba’t ibang scheme, including asking malalaking consumers ng kuryente katulad ng mga malls, na makibahagi by using their generators or solar panels tuwing peak hours para makabawas sa total power requirement at maiwasan ang brownout.
