Put more teeth to our laws

AS we welcomed New Year, may mga pasaway pa ring mga taong buong yabang na nagpaputok ng mga baril! And they even posted it in the social media!

I refer to the eight men in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur na buong yabang na ipinakita ang kanilang pinapaputok na Armalite at .45 caliber pistol noong New Year’s Eve.

The danger in the indiscriminate firing of guns is that somebody could be hit by the stray bullets! Sa Pangasinan na lang, tatlo ang dinala sa mga ospital matapos tamaan at masugatan noong New year’s Eve dahil sa ligaw na bala!

Kaya lang, even if charges are filed against the eight in Narvacan, hindi naman ganoon kabigat ang magiging parusa sa kanila kung mapatunayang nagkasala sila.

Under the Revised Penal Code, illegal discharge of firearms is a minor crime and violators are punished by a P200 fine or imprisonment of one day to a month lang!

It is high time for Congress to amend the provision. Baka naman puwede nating taasan ang parusa! The penalty should also be commensurate to the offense!

The reason why many foreign syndicates operate shabu laboratories here is because mahuli man sila, they will not be meted death penalty unlike sa kanilang mga bansa- bitay!

Our laws must have enough teeth to deter would be criminals in our midst.

It was just the second day of 2015 two Fridays ago when law enforcers seized two big drug shipments of illegal drugs in the cities of Manila and Baguio and arrested the couriers.

Iyong sa Maynila, 3.8 kilos of shabu worth P4 million ang nasamsam in a buy-bust operation. Sa Baguio, 141 kilos ng dried marijuana leaves were seized from two persons kunwari ay nagbibiyahe ng mga gulay.

These two big drug busts at the start of this year set the tone of this year’s relentless campaign against illegal drugs. It will be bolder, more aggressive and intensive.

The drug syndicates must have thought that because of the holidays and the revelries to welcome the New Year, madaling lumusot! They need to be on high alert sa mga panahong busy ang lahat ng mga tao to ensure peace and order.

We know who you are and in your next shipment or transaction, we will be there to get you and send you to prison!

Less than 16 months from now, Filipino voters will elect a new president and other officials down to the municipal level.

I wont be surprised if many are beginning to wonder because na rin kasing pinagdaaanang halalan ang partidong ito and many candidates were supported by Biskeg.

As a local party, it was not difficult for Biskeg to unite ang ating mga political leaders dahil they know na isa sa mga hangarin ng Biskeg ay ang mai-angat ang antas ng pamumuhay ng marami nating mga kababayan, and of course, to make Pangasinan a globally competitive province.

It was not also difficult for Pangasinenses to vote for Biskeg candidates in the past because the people could easily identify with the political party, being a local party that can align with national parties, i.e., Biskeg-NPC, Biskeg-UNA, Biskeg-Laban, etc,.

Watch out for Biskeg in the next months!
