‘Comfort the afflicted, afflict the comfortable’

YOU might consider this as some kind of self congratulations!

Why, you ask? Well, by the time you read this page, you must already be wearing a smile over the nicest news in town.

Sa, totoo lang, this columnist missed the fun, we mean, the group who were haled to court in a complaint of libel.

You see, in this profession, kung hindi ka pa ni-li-libel, parang hindi ka tunay na peryodista.

But, we say, it depends!

In our case, tunay ang saya and sense of victory in the Punch family. Mantakin nyo, ginagamit ni Ambassador Cabangon Chua ang kanyang multi-million (or billion?) business empire to put down thru legal maneuvers the Sunday Punch.

Kaya yan, ang Punch people ngayon ay full of spirit. Truth has prevailed.

Better with a small group that speaks the truth. Truth is a minority, but it’s the majority, the only one in the eyes of God.

Let’s tackle this very briefly.

The appearance of Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, lawyer of Cabangon Chua, with the VACC people tells a lot of stories. He did not even squirm to impute the suspicion on Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and Police Chief Chris Abrahano that they were behind the failed assassination of Orly Navarro, OIC-manager of DWIZ Dagupan, one of the branches of Cabangon Chua’s business empire.

Methinks, the accusation against was only meant to divert public attention from the Punch’s triumph in the Pasig Court of justice.

While writing this, our friend Ashok Vasandani texted this very appropriate quote, “Telling the truth and making someone cry is better than telling a lie and making someone smile.”

In this our trade, our duty is “to comfort the afflicted, and afflict the comfortable.”

Mabuhay tayong lahat.

What’s curious is, initially our friend Orly was seen and heard on TV as saying Barangay Pantal is teeming with illegal drugs. He even said maraming “praning” sa Pantal.

Even a supposed sikat columnist Ramon Tulfo, who has a program at DWIZ in Pasig, accused in his PDI column Mayor Belen, et al as masterminding the shooting of Orly. He even called up Orly’s son to talk about the shooting, but when the son said “wala akong alam diyan,” the phone call was sharply shut off.

Something abruptly changed when Johnny Dayang came to Dagupan to talk to “captive” media men to link Mayor Belen. They complained that Belen did not condemn the shooting! But truth to tell, Belen is now the one being condemned!

No, sir, not the money.

And there’s this other “for sale” kumintarista—binili ng alam nyo na!!!—just to put down and destroy Mayor Belen.

Tignan nyo nga kung anong klaseng propesyon mayron sila?

At yong pag gamit ng FM station na parang AM in order to destroy reputations—this is a clear, blatant and absurd violation of KBP regulations.

Our lawyer is looking into this.

Ay, anak ng jue…let’s go back to the Jaycees issue.

Like what we denounced last week marami na ang nagpapagamit na mga dating kasama para kumita in order to make a mockery of the Jaycee Creed….yes, just to make absentee Vice Mayor Brian Lim president.

You know what his group did?

Nag-ma-maneubra to send Sanggunian Secretary Ryan Ravanzo to a Lakbay Aral to Laoag while a JC convention would be going on in Pampanga.

Unfortunately for the “plotters”—Mayor Belen did not approve Ryan’s trip to Laoag because it turned out, tapos na pala ang lakbay aral doon noong February.

Inatey so angabil!

We wrote this just to show how far these schemers could go to satisfy their evil plots.

Hmm…matalino man ang matsing, napaglalamangan din.
