The danger of legalizing and regulating the use of marijuana

MISSION accomplished! That’s the report of the police station in Sual to the community. Taas-noo sila matapos mahulog sa kanilang bitag ang isang drug personality in their town.

In a buy-bust operation conducted last week, the suspect was caught with his live-in partner, who have been pushing illegal drugs in their area. Ang nakakalungkot dito, their 21-year old na anak was also arrested for the same offense.

The report that reached my office said there were around 48 sachets and two bricks of dried marijuana leaves seized from the three. See? Marijuana is still illegal and prohibited but still, they can provide and sell it openly! Imagine if marijuana is already legal or its use regulated?

How many lives have they destroyed?

Congratulations to the Sual Police for this accomplishment! Sana patuloy kayong maging mapagmatyag at listo sa ating campaign contra illegal drugs.

With the current drug situation, I also believe na wala sa impyerno ang mga demonyo, they are here with us! They will stop at nothing to earn millions from the sale of illegal drugs at the expense of our young.

I say this because, another drug called ‘green apple,’ is now out in the market and being consumed by rich people including students in exclusive schools.  So far only wealthy people use ‘green apple’ because it costs P1,500.00 per capsule! Reports have it na one capsule ay may mas malakas na effect compared to ecstasy at ‘fly high’! This is an extremely dangerous drug!

According to Atty. Eric Isidoro, hepe ng Anti-Drugs Unit ng NBI, ‘green apple’ ay kasama na sa list of dangerous drugs in Europe and USA pero hindi pa rin included in our list of prohibited drugs.  Sa totoo lang, it still needs an exhaustive research to prove that it contains methylenedioxyamphetamine na ipinagbabawal under Schedule 1 of the 1971 United Nations Single Convention on Psychotropic Substances.

‘Green apples’ were repotedly brought to the Philippines by West African drug mules who pose as tourists! They come and go ang grupong ito sa Pilipinas. May ma-aaresto, makukulong but after a while, may parating muli para magpasok ng droga.

It is situations like these involving illegal drugs ang sinasabi kong panganib if marijuana is legalized.

Allow me to share with you one report ng US Drug Enforcement Agency about an African exchange student who jumped to his death from a hotel balcony in Denver after eating a marijuana-infused cookie. Kumain ang student ng cookies more than the recommended amount at one time, kaya he began shaking, screaming and throwing things around the hotel room bago tumalon!

While regulated sa ilang states ng USA ang marijuana, the case of that student tells us na wala talagang buti na makukuha sa marijuana! Worse kung sa atin, there can be no control whatsoever. Kuha nyo??

Kaya, let us stop promoting marijuana legalization! I still have lots to share kung negative effects of marijuana ang pag-uusapan. Intay-intay lang kayo.

For those hoping that they can still smuggle illegal drugs through the NAIA, stop dreaming!

Over the past five months, around six sacks containing different kinds of illegal drugs estimated at P24 million were seized inside NAIA. Seized drugs included shabu, and regulated addictive substances such as Valium, Ativan, Dormicum, Rivotril and Ritalin tablets.

But there is another sad story here. No sender has beeen charged in court dahil ang mga senders ng mga kargamento gave fictitious names at addresses which is why hindi sila titigil sa paggamit ng NAIA . It’s really imprortant  our law officers assigned at the NAIA do not put their guard down. Drug traffickers are just waiting for perfect timing!

Bawal kumurap!
