Another milestone for Dagupan?

By Gerry Garcia

FINALLY the 4-km Dawel-Pantal-Lucao road skirting the southern side of the city proper up to the CSI shopping center in Lucao was formally opened to traffic last Friday. And this could be the result of, or in spite of, the looming curiosity in the SP where most suspected that the long delayed opening of the P1.2 B infrastructure project was politics-inspired.

It was Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo himself who, bristling over the DPWH’s move to close the road again to traffic after declaring it open during the Bangus street party festival on April 30, sought some kind of justification from the DPWH.

May 16, last Friday, was landmark day for the city as the historic road was formally inaugurated with DPWH head Hermogenes Ebdane together   with city high officials cutting the inaugural ribbon.

We can also guess SP member Tamayo’s resting satisfied with the non-presence of PGMA and Rep. JDV at the inauguration giving lie to suspicion the delayed opening of the new road was political.

But we still can’t exactly see why or how the presence of these two prominent officials   influential in the construction of P1.2 B city project could be political . . . if not reconciliatory.

But all this is water under the bridge. We’re glad the rumpus is over and we rejoice together with Mayor Al Fernandez and Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and the rest that the long envisioned city circumferential road will soon be a reality.
