Suspended Buted’s presence in PSU activities questioned

IS suspended Pangasinan State University (PSU) president Dexter M. Buted still calling the shots at PSU?

This question cropped up when students and parents spotted Buted at PSU Lingayen welcoming Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque when the latter visited the university on September 10 to launch his ‘”Ugnayan sa Eskwela” project.

Buted was suspended for nine months by the Office of the Ombudsman beginning April 30, 2018.

Photos sent to The Punch showed Buted seated at the head table in a huddle with Roque inside the Office of the PSU president.

Also in that meeting were PSU OIC-President Paulo Cenas and Pangasinan
Police Provincial Office OIC, Senior Supt. Wilson Lopez.

According to a source, Buted actually never stopped “meddling” in the daily activities of the PSU “as if he was never suspended at all.”

He was reportedly seen inside the school campus, including conducting meetings inside the PSU President’s Office.

The suspended PSU president, according to the source, even conveniently parks his car outside the office of the PSU president.

Meanwhile, Buted was expected to the PQA Evaluation at PSU on September 12 and 13 with the approval of Board of Regents. The PQA is a school performance quality award to be given by the Department of Trade and Industry and to be awarded by Malacanang.

Buted was declared persona non grata by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for repeatedly refusing to attend hearings of the SP to shed light on the university’s On-the-Job Training program after a student was hospitalized. (Leonardo Micua)
