THE improvement of the drainage system leading to the San Jose Creek to ease the flooding in Lingayen and the preparation of plans for the Lingyen Bypass project to improve traffic in the town are underway.

The assurance was made by the Second Engineering District Office and 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil after they inspected the ongoing improvement of the San Jose Creek and the the proposed Balingkaging Bridge in Lingayen.

Bataoil said the improvements being made at the San Jose Creek will help solve flooding in the town during rainy days.

San Jose Creek will serve as a catch basin for floodwaters moving from the Poblacion area, Libsong East and West, Alvear, Capitol ground and PSU area.

District Engineer Rodolfo Dion said the drainage system in the mentioned areas will be directed to the San Jose Creek which is connected to the mouth of the Limahong Channel.

The total improvement will be completed once the P49 million budget from National Expenditure Program for 2018 is approved, Bataoil said.

Dion confirmed that there are 11 houses that will be relocated to give way to the widening and improvement of the San Jose creek and Bataoil is set to ask Gov. Amado Espino III to prioritize the relocation of 11 families to the housing project in Aplaya in Barangay Maniboc.

The team also inspected the proposed Balingkaging Bridge in Lingayen.

The proposed bridge will connect to the proposed Lingayen Bypass project.

The design of the phase 1 will start from the intersection in Bugallon and Domalandan that motorists can travel straight to Pangapisan and Maniboc to skip the Poblacion area.

Bataoil, however, said consultations are still ongoing for the proposed bypass road project. (Nora Dominguez)
