3 nabbed in mahjong session

SAN MANUEL–Three persons were arrested by the police while playing mahjong in the compound of one of the houses in Barangay San Bonifacio on October 8 for illegal gambling.

Arrested and subsequently charged for violation of Presidential  Decree No. 1602 were Lolita Rabara, 55, owner of the house where mahjong sessions were being held; Francisco de Guzman, 35;  and one Moise Ballera, 59.

They were caught enflagrante playing mahjong by a police team led by P/Sr. Inspector Fausto Marzan, deputy chief of police of San Manuel.

Seized by the police were mahjong sets in four tables, P850 in cash in different denominations, chairs and others.

Upon seeing the policemen, all the other players scampered away, but the three were unable to run. (Leonardo Micua)
