URDANETA City Police and the city officials are aiming to be cleared of illegal drugs in the next 30-60 days.

P/Superintendent Neil Miro, city police chief, said from the 34 Barangays, 30 have been cleared leaving only four barangays still drug-affected: Poblacion, Dilan Paurido, Bayaoas and Pinmaludpod.

There are 2,200 drug personalities who surrendered and are undergoing a community-based drug rehabilitation program.

Mayor Bobom Perez said, the drug-clearing program is a partnership program of the city government, PNP and barangay officials.

Miro said he is optimistic that with the support of the City Government, the city will soon be cleared of illegal drugs.

He said Barangays San Vicente and Camantiles that used to be the hotbed of notorious drug pushers in the city have been cleared.

PDEA Director General Lapena is a native of Barangay San Vicente.

But Miro admitted that there are still reported incidents of illegal drug trading in the area, hence, monitoring and operations will continue.

Without the cooperation of barangay officials, he said the mission to clear Urdaneta will be extremely difficult, Miro said.

Perez said, Barangay San Viente that used to be the placed of the notorious pushers have been cleared from drugs. (Nora Dominguez)
