FOR NEW CITY HALL

THE Dagupan City government will still consider other donations to the city as prospective site for the planned new government center.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez said she is giving two more weeks to consider other donations before she affixes her signature to the ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) authorizing her to sign and accept the donation in behalf of the city.

She said more offers to donate will enable the city not to be limited and constrained to accept the 1.2 hectare land donated to the city by her brother, Kerwin Fernandez.

However, she clarified that any land to be donated must be within the Lucao-Pantal area which was identified as one of the new growth centers of Dagupan in the newly approved Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP).

The ordinance is expected to reach her office this week after Vice Mayor Brian Lim affixes his signature on the draft ordinance as the presiding officer of the SP when the ordinance was adopted.

She said the city is ready to build a new government center notwithstanding the fact that it was given only one year to do this.

She pointed out that funding for will be sourced initially from local sources and a little from a bank loan. She added she also asked Rep. Christopher de Venecia to help. (Leonardo Micua)
