CALASIAO –The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regional office here exceeded its goal by posting more than P10.9 billion in tax collections last year and will likely be adjudged the top regional office performer.

Marina de Guzman, officer-in-charge as regional director of BIR Region 1, said her office exceeded its target goal by almost P1-billion or nine percent more over target.

She added their growth rate for their year-to-year collection is 21.82 percent.

In 2015, the regional office posted P9.791-billion collection.

BIR Region 1 office here has six revenue district offices located here, Alaminos City, Urdaneta City, San Fernando City in La Union, Vigan City in Ilocos Sur and Laoag City in Ilocos Norte.

De Guzman attributed her office’s unprecedented tax collection to the teamwork, strict monitoring of collection and results of investigation of business establishments. (Tita Roces)
