SP commends 8 Dagupan athletes

THE Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution congratulating eight athletes of Balon Dagupan Team who saw action in the 2016 Batang Pinoy National Championship in Tagum City on Nov. 27 to December 2 for their phenomenal performance that again put Dagupan in the sporting map of the country.

The resolution authored by Councilor Alvin Coquia acknowledged the accomplishments of the eight athletes who stood out from among the 12,000 athletes from various regions in the country.

Commended foremost was 12-year old Janelle Frances Lin, a Grade VII pupil of the Genesis School, who won four gold medals in the swimming event, three of which were national record-breaking feats which are in the 200-meter individual medley, 200-meter back stroke, and in 200-meter free-style, and 200-meter butterfly.

Others commended were Paul Andrew Rioflorido of the Lyceum Northwestern University who won gold in 45 x 50-meter medley and bronze in the 500 and 200-meter backstroke; John Carlo Rioflorido of PHINMA University of Pangasinan, gold in the 4 x 50-meter medley; Anton Louis Vicencio Villaflor of La Marea Academy, gold medalist in the 4 x 50-meter medley; Carlo Jizmundo, also of La Marea Academy, gold in the 4 x 50-meter medley.

The other athletes also shone were Rianna Casipit of the Dominican School, a silver medalist in the 50-meter breast stroke; Mequizedick Macam of Pantal Elementary School, who was top 10 finalist in the chess event; and Maycydel Fajardo, also top 10 finalist in Rapiz and Blitz categories in the chess event.
