SAN FABIAN–Two cousins involved in blast fishing were ambushed by unidentified armed men along the national highway in Barangay Alacan last Nov. 15, one of whom died on arrival at a hospital in Agoo, La Union.

The fatality, Cesario B. Gadayos, 36, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and died on arrival at La Union Medical Center. His cousin Raymond U. Gadayos, 34, suffered one gunshot wound on the right shoulder and survived.

The cousins just came from the San Fabian Public Market on board a passenger tricycle when they were blocked by armed men on board a motorcycle. The back rider of the motorcycle alighted and shot the victims pointblank.

The wife of Cesario said that her husband and cousin were not involved in blast fishing, nor in illegal drugs.

An intensive manhunt was launched by the police against the suspects. (Leonardo Micua)
