Tayug kagawad in drug list shot dead

DRUG SUSPECTS TARGETTED

TAYUG — A barangay councilwoman identified by the town’s police as a  high-value target and a top drug personality, was shot dead by unidentified persons on October 6 at about 10:20 a.m. along a road in Barangay Evangelista here.

The victim was identified as Gladys Nollido, 50, incumbent barangay kagawad and a resident of Sto. Domingo, Tayug, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of her body.

She was rushed by responding policemen to the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital (EPDH), where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The responding Tayug police team conducted hot pursuit operation for possible arrest of the perpetrators but returned to their station empty handed.

Meanwhile, a man included in the list of drug personalities in Sta. Maria town, was also shot dead by unidentified suspects on October 6 at about 11:35 a.m. along the national road in Cauplasan, Sta. Maria.

The victim, identified as Eduardo Bayuga, alias “Edwin”, 41, of Brgy Pilar, Sta. Maria. was traveling on his Honda motorcycle when accosted and shot by unidentified suspects on board a white SUV van without plate number.

The victim was immediately rushed to Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital, in Tayug where was declared dead on arrival.

In San Fabian town, a self-confessed drug personality who surrendered earlier after a ‘tokhang’, was shot and wounded by unidentified suspects at about 1:55 p.m. on Oct. 6 in the town’s Poblacion.

The victim was identified as Roberto Castronuevo, 53, a retired policeman and a resident of Nibaliw East, San Fabian.

He was riding his bicycle when two unidentified motorcycle riding criminals shot him. Castronuevo sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body but survived the assault.

He was rushed by responding policemen to the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in  Dagupan City where is now recuperating.

While at the hospital, two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu were found in his belongings.

The victim was found out to have surrendered when the San Fabian Police implemented Project “Tokhang”.

However, intelligence monitoring by the police suggested that he was  still engaged in illegal activities. (Leonardo Micua)
