Lingayen – If the Sangguniang Panlalawigan can have its way, it wants recently installed Officer-in-Charge P/Sr. Supt. Ronald Oliver Lee designated as the permanent provincial director of the Pangasinan Police.

The resolution endorsing the appointment of Lee, authored by Board Member Raul Sison (Second District), was adopted during the Provincial Board’s regular session last August 15 at the end of its Question Hour when the acting director of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) reported on the peace and order situation in the province amid the agency’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

The resolution will be sent to PNP Chief Police Director Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and PNP-Region 1 Director Gregorio Pimentel.

Prior to Lee’s assignment to Pangasinan, there have been 10 temporary provincial police directors assigned to the province for the past four consecutive years.

Lee presented the PPPO’s plan and programs that focused on campaign against illegal drugs in the province.

Asked how much have PPPO achieved from its goals, Lee said barely 30 percent. “Though many have already surrendered, we are going for the high value targets.”

He, however, expressed confidence the PPPO can beat the six-month deadline as imposed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

With illegal gambling seen as next target of the Duterte administration, Lee vowed the same commitment and support for it.

Lee took over the helm of PPPO relinquished by P/SSupt. Edgar Alan Okubo in a turnover ceremony last July 4. (RCL_PIO)
