Shabu-user Calasiao cop arrested

A POLICEMAN from adjacent Calasiao was arrested by police operatives of Dagupan City who caught him in the act of sniffing suspected shabu inside an abandoned shack at Barangay Pantal Centro here at about 5:00 p.m. of June 27.

In a news conference at his office P/Superintendent Christopher Abrahano identified the suspect as PO1 Wilson Ballesteros, 35, a native of Barangay San Vicente, Calasiao and member of the Calasiao Police Station.

Abrahano said Ballesteros was formerly assigned to the Dagupan City Police Station.

But Ballesteros was soon relieved due to his involvement in illegal drugs and subsequently assigned to the Calasiao Police Station where he reportedly went on Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL).

A confidential informant reported to the Dagupan police that Ballesteros was seen frequenting in an abandoned shack at Barangay Pantal Centro.

The informant led operatives to the site and found Ballesteros in the act of using shabu. One sachet of shabu was found in his possession.

Ballesteros is now lodged at the Dagupan City Police jail pending the filing of cases against him for use and possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

Abrahano reiterated that the Dagupan City Police is committed to eliminate the menace in the society even if it includes members of the uniform service. (Leonardo Micua)
