LINGAYEN- The six hospitals operated by the provincial government were provided brand new Toyota Hi-Ace GL Grandia ambulances, part of the Espino administration’s thrust to improve the delivery of public health and medical services.

The six recipients of the new ambulances are: Western Pangasinan District Hospital (WPDH); Lingayen District Hospital (LDH); Bayambang District Hospital (BDH); and Community Hospitals in Bolinao, Dasol and Pozorrubio.

“Now that we have more than one ambulance, we now have one in reserve to transfer patients to a higher facility if they need further diagnostic procedures,” said Dr. Susan Rita Meriño, chief of WPDH.

She said if the diagnostic procedures needed by the patient is not available in any government hospitals in Pangasinan, the ambulance can be used at no cost by the patients.

“Transferring patients from hospital to their houses is also free if he or she is already bed-ridden and was already given medical services,” said Meriño.

All hospitals run by the provincial government in Pangasinan are given an ambulance every three years.
