FOR LOST CELLPHONE, NO FB ACCESS

AGNO— Who would have thought that failure to access one’s Facebook, the world’s most popular social networking application, was enough to push anyone to commit murder?

This was the case when the police filed on Jan. 5 two counts of murder against a man who ran amuck and hacked dead two victims in Sitio Pandan, Barangay Gayusan here.

The suspect, Andy Naranja, 34, single, resident of Agno. Naranja, reportedly went berserk after he allegedly lost his smartphone and could not go online to open his Facebook account.

Naranja, armed with bolo, hacked dead his neighbors Herminio Cabais and Laulita Naranja, both of legal age, who were then resting inside their homes on Jan. 4.

He was eventually arrested after about three hours of negotiations with the responding police.

The victims were rushed to Agno Municipal Health Clinic where their attending doctors declared them dead on arrival due to multiple hack wounds.

P/Inspector Renato Gacad, the town’s officer-in-charge police chief, said cases against Naranja were filed at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Alaminos City on Jan. 5.

Naranja is reportedly suffering from a mental illness. (Tita Roces)
