Two incidents happened on Dec. 5 with two bodies retrieved in Binmaley and Tayug. Another happened on Dec. 6 in Binmaley with two victims whose bodies were also recovered.

On Dec. 9, one body was recovered while another was missing in Bani.

Two more bodies were retrieved on Dec. 15 and 19 in San Fabian, on Dec. 25 in Alcala and another on Dec. 25 in Dagupan City.

The latest drowning incident was on Dec. 28 in Bolinao where the body of excursionist Jericho delos Reyes from Antipolo City was retrieved

Lt. Senior Grade Alexander Corpuz said drowning incidents are normally on the rise during the long holidays when vacationists and excursionists troop to the beaches or rivers.

He said they have been on heightened alert since Dec. 11 and would remain until Jan. 6.

Most of the victims were visitors and were under the influence of liquor, he added. (Tita Roces)
