LINGAYEN— The quick response of the police unit from the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office led to the early arrest of the suspected gunman in the shooting of a couple last September 13.

Couple, Arturo and Delia Pinto, were gunned down by suspects riding in tandem in front of a chapel in Urbiztondo town.

Arrested was Terry Velasquez, the backrider. A provincial board member denounced the gun slay. His accomplice who drove the motorcycle is still the subject of a manhunt.

The police filed Monday double murder case against Velasquez and his companion at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in San Carlos City.

P/Chief Inspector Wilfredo Cabanayan, the town police chief, told The PUNCH that Arturo died on the spot while Delia was rushed to Virgen Milagrosa Hospital in San Carlos City where she died.

Arturo drove his wife to a chapel of Ang Dating Daan religious group where she would attend a Sunday service, Cabanayan said.

In a privilege speech Monday, 2nd District Board Member Raul Sison lauded the timely arrival of the police operatives dispatched by P/Senior Supt. Rolie Saltat, OIC-police director, to the crime scene that resulted in the arrest of Velasquez.

Motive for the killing is believed to be a land dispute. (Tita Roces)
