Armed farmer shot dead, 3 wounded

BARANGAY FIESTA VIOLENCE

BOLINAO—One person was gunned down while three others were hurt by stray bullet in a gun attack during a barangay fiesta in Barangay Estanza this town on April 17 at around 12:45 a.m.

Killed was Narding Cudal Carolino, 56, farmer and resident of Barangay Tupa here who was shot by an unidentified suspect. He was brought to Bolinao Community Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Hit by stray bullets were Richard Paltep, 13, resident of Barangay Tupa here, Isagani Odero, 40, and Fidel Tabucol, 43, both residents of Barangay Estanza, who sustained gunshot wounds on their legs, were immediately brought to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital, Alaminos City for medical treatment.

A witness said he saw the unidentified gunman wearing red ball cap, red jacket, maong pants, 5 feet – 5’6” in height shoot the victim several times and fled bringing along with him the weapon used.

Recovered from the possession of victim were one homemade caliber 38 paltik with sling tied on his belt loaded with five live ammunition and one backpack containing one homemade caliber .22 Magnum, one magazine of caliber .22 loaded with nine live ammunition of caliber .22, nine live ammunition of caliber .22, one live ammunition of caliber 38 and one wig colored black and three empty shells of caliber 45 recovered at the crime scene.

All recovered weapons were subjected to ballistic examination. (Tita Roces)
