A NEW city hall for the Dagupan City government is finally in the works.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod is reportedly set to pass a resolution giving Mayor Belen T. Fernandez the authority to negotiate for the acquisition of the site for the project.

The prospect is bolstered by the statement of Fourth District Rep. Gina de Venecia during the turnover of three newly-built classrooms built by the partylist Citizens Battle Against Corruption (DNHS) that she and Fernandez are teaming up to build the new city hall of Dagupan before their present term ends.

She said she has found the initial fund to launch the project on a site selected by the mayor and will continue to source more funds for the envisioned state-of the art building.

Meanwhile, De Venecia also announced that the establishment of the Dagupan Fish Port she proposed in a bill she authored, will have an initial budget of P40 million effectively shelving the earlier plan for the planned fish port in Bonuan Binloc.

The congresswoman said the additional P200 million budget to complete the project will be sourced through the National Appropriations Act of 2005 and 2006 till it is completed.  (LVM)
