MANGALDAN—Daniel Padilla was arrested in Mangaldan.

No, he’s not the popular actor of Star Cinema but the latter’s namesake who happens to be the most wanted person in Alaminos City.

Tomas “Daniel” Padilla, 40 years old, has been wanted for the crime of rape since December 30, 2010, and was finally arrested here by the Mangaldan police station on Wednesday (August 20).

According to Supt. Jackie Candelario, chief of Mangaldan police, the arrest was made with the standing alias warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Benjamin Abella of regional trial court branch 54, Alaminos City.

“Padilla had been evading arrest since 2010 and that made him the most wanted in Alaminos,” Candelario said.

Padilla’s movements had been under surveillance for a week.  And soon as his identity was confirmed with the help of community in Barangay Pogo where he was reportedly residing with relatives for over a year, and the warrant had been verified, elements of the Mangaldan and Alaminos police, together with the provincial intelligence unit, went to arrest him.

Padilla initially resisted arrest and tried to fight off the arresting team that led to the minor injury of one policeman but was eventually restrained.
