To facilitate buying of palay from farmers, the National Food Authority (NFA) has 32 more stationary buying stations in Pangasinan to procure palay from farmers.

The NFA is buying clean and dry palay from farmers at a rate of P17 per kilogram, plus a procurement incentive fee of 70 centavos per kilogram if the seller is a member of a farmers’ cooperative and 40 centavos if the sellers are individual farmers.

The 70 centavo incentive fee is broken down as follows: 30 centavos per kilogram as cooperative development incentive fee, 20 centavos per kilogram as delivery incentive fee and 20 centavos per kilogram as drying incentive fee.

De Guzman also announced that the NFA will provide express lanes for palay deliveries of 50 bags or less and will intensify the fielding of mobile procurement teams, especially in harvest areas.

The agency will also assign additional trucks to collect and pick up palay stocks in collection centers if needed.—LM
