URDANETA CITY–An P800 million budget has been allocated for irrigation projects in Pangasinan this year, according to Engr. John Celeste, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) regional director.

Some 3,000 hectares of land in need of irrigation will be restored and Governor Amado Espino has requested that priority be given to areas within the 1st district.

Celeste said the construction of the P200-million Masidem Small Water Impounding Project, which will irrigate six barangays in Bani, has already started.

Meanwhile, Celeste also announced that the re-regulating pond of the San Roque Dam, a project that has been pending for 10 years now, is finally up for bidding this year.

A Chinese company is among those that are seen to likely bag the project.

The project consists of two phases and will benefit about 34,000 hectares of land in Pangasinan, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija.#
