PBBM distributes P10k ‘ayuda’ each to 5,000 agri beneficiaries
PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos distributed P50 million in financial aid on Friday to 5,000 beneficiaries severely affected by Typhoon Kristine.
The national government allocated the funds as immediate relief for farmers, fisherfolk, and livestock raisers in Pangasinan.
Each beneficiary from all six districts received P10,000 to help them rebuild their livelihoods.
The aid, part of the Presidential Assistance for Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFFF) program, assists residents in recovering from the devastating impact of Typhoon Kristine and other recent storms, which caused an estimated P982 million in damage to the province’s agricultural sector.
The distribution took place across three venues: the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center Gymnasium, with 2,295 recipients; Sison Auditorium, with 1,675 recipients; and the Pangasinan Training and Development Center I, with 1,030 recipients.
The tropical storm, which brought a two- to three-meter storm surge, flooded several towns, particularly along Lingayen Gulf, displacing over 500 families, a PIMRO report said.
According to a separate report from the Philippine Information Agency (Pangasinan), Dalisay Moya, head of the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office, stated that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) had pre-assessed the beneficiaries to ensure that the aid reached those most in need.
Governor Ramon Guico III expressed his gratitude to President Marcos for his support and timely assistance to the typhoon-affected residents of Pangasinan. (Eva Visperas)
