Dagupan, Milpitas cities mark 26th year of twinning
THE 26th anniversary of the twinning agreement between Dagupan and Milpitas Cities was made more significant by the visit to the Californian City of a Dagupan delegation led by Mayor Belen Fernandez from November 18 to 26.
The delegation, composed of department heads, school heads and young city officials on school exchange and officials of the Sangguniang Kabataan were warmly welcomed by Mipitas City Mayor Carmen Montano and members of the Milpitas City Council led by Hon Lien, Anthony Phan and Filipino-American Garey Barbadillo.
The twinning agreement started in 1998 when Dagupan was headed by then Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr., and the mayor of Milpitas City was Jose Esteves, a native of Dagupan.
“It warms my heart that our sister city here in USA has been good to us. Our students are learning a lot, aside from the best practices that our cavity government can learn from them,” Fernandez said.
Also part of the delegation are City Legal Officer Aurora Valle, Chief of Staff Luz de Guzman, City Engineer Josephine Corpuz, CDRRMO chief Ronald de Guzman, Sanggunian Secretary and Sister Cities Officer Ryan Ravanzo, Dr. Liezel Cancino, Owen Tan, Hana Agacita, Claire Ugto and Wengie Samson.
